The Miser - Short Moral Stories in English

A miser once sold all that he had and bought a lump of gold. He buried it in a hole, at the foot of a tree in his garden.

Each day, he would go to keep a check on it. One of his servants noticed this.

So, he went quietly and dug up the hole, and found the gold. The next morning, when the miser went to gaze at his treasure, he found nothing but an empty hole! He began to scream at the top of his voice.

A friend taunted him, "You never spent money when you had it. Now, you may as well bury a stone in that hole. It will do you just as much good."

Moral : Better use what you already have, or else you will regret it if you lose it.
